Lahore, Pakistan – Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL) is one of Pakistan’s leading Oil & Gas Companies with fully integrated exploration and production capabilities. MPCL manages the largest gas reservoirs in the Country and currently operates nine Gas & Oil/Condensate fields which are: Mari Gas Field, Zarghun Gas & Condensate Field, Sujawal Gas & Condensate Field, Koonj Gas field, Ghauri Oil Field, Halini Oil Field and Kalabagh Gas & Condensate Field.
Daily production of MPCL from its fields stands above 750 MMSCFD of gas and 1500 bbls of oil/condensate.
Avanceon was contracted by MPCL to work on two of its important fields – Sujawal and Zarghun.
The main challenge for the Sujawal Field was to deliver a safety-compliant and reliable automation solution. Another challenge stemmed from the integrated Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of the pressurized Wellhead Control Panel (WHCP) and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) that had to be conducted at Avanceon’s Lahore FAT facility as well as the commissioning of the hydraulic system. This aspect of the project included the integration on a running plant.
The scope of work included the detailed design, development, supply, delivery, and commissioning of RTU and WHCP systems.
Sujawal Field:
- Sujawal RTU to communicate with Sujjal RTU via redundant wireless link
- Operator Workstation in Control Room
- RTU with Allen Bradley’s ControlLogix Controller (Sujjal)
- Radio Link communication with Sujjal wellhead
WHCP Sujjal Field:
- RTU with Allen Bradley’s Compact Logix Controller
- Radio Link communication with Sujawal wellhead
- WHCP
- Solar System for powering up Sujjal wellhead control panel
- Field Instrumentation
For Zarghun field, Avanceon was contracted for the design, supply, installation, and commissioning of complete Electrical MCC Panels, Lighting Poles, JBs, Field Instruments and Power Cabling, Cable Trays, ESD Push Buttons, Emergency Call Points and Fire and Gas Detectors.
The scope of work for Zarghun field also included design, supply, installation, and commissioning of the latest PlantPAx based DCS/SCADA Layer with redundant servers, five clients, one engineering station and printers – with provision for future integration of new wells. The PlantPAx DCS was responsible for the control and monitoring of the entire GPF process from Separators to Custody Transfer Station including ESD and Fire and Gas functionality.
Avanceon completed both projects on time, without any delays with zero budget deviation. MPCL gave Avanceon an average of 89% satisfaction score with the following remarks.
